Post-op Instructions after Fillings

  • Numbness may last for a few hours after treatment
  • Mild soreness in the tooth, gums, or jaw is normal and should improve within a day or two
  • Sensitivity (especially to temperature) is common and may last from a few days to several weeks
  • Your bite may feel slightly off once the numbness wears off

Post-op Instructions following Crown or Bridgework

  • Numbness may last for a few hours after treatment
  • Mild soreness in the tooth, gums, or jaw is normal and should improve within a few days
  • Sensitivity is common, especially with deeper decay, and may last days to a few weeks
  • Your bite may feel slightly different once the numbness wears off
  • If you have a temporary, avoid sticky foods and contact us if it comes off
  • Keep the area clean with normal brushing and flossing

Post-op Instructions following Extractions

  • Numbness may last for a few hours after treatment
  • Bleeding, swelling, and soreness are normal for the first few days
  • Avoid rinsing, spitting, straws, or smoking to allow proper healing
  • Use gentle saltwater rinses starting the day after the procedure
  • Eat softer foods and avoid chewing on the area
  • Use recommended medications and cold compresses as needed
  • Rest and avoid strenuous activity for the first 24 hours
  • Healing varies

Post-op Instructions following Denture or Partial Delivery

  • If extractions were performed, also follow extraction instructions
  • Wear your appliance as directed during the initial adjustment period
  • Some discomfort and sore spots are normal and may require adjustments
  • Your speech and chewing may feel different at first and will improve with time
  • Remove and clean your appliance daily using a toothbrush, soap, and water
  • Avoid abrasive products such as toothpaste or bleach
  • Follow up for adjustments as recommended

Post-op Instructions following Occlusal Appliance or Nightguard Delivery

  • Mild discomfort or pressure is common during the initial adjustment period
  • Wear your appliance as directed
  • Clean daily with a toothbrush, soap, and water
  • Avoid abrasive products such as toothpaste or bleach
  • Periodic deeper cleaning (such as with a denture cleaner) may be recommended
  • Adjustments are sometimes needed as your bite adapts

Post-op Instructions following Root Canal Therapy

  • Numbness may last for a few hours after treatment
  • Mild soreness in the tooth, gums, or jaw is common and should improve over a few days
  • Healing varies depending on the condition of the tooth prior to treatment
  • Use recommended medications as needed for comfort
  • Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until final restoration is completed
  • Continue normal brushing and flossing
  • A root canal is often the first step—final restoration is important for long-term success

Post-op Instructions following Periodontal Therapy (Scaling and Root Planing)

  • Numbness may last for a few hours after treatment
  • Soreness in the gums and jaw is common and should improve over a few days
  • Cold sensitivity is common after treatment
  • Teeth may feel slightly looser at first as inflammation resolves
  • Continue brushing and flossing as directed
  • Periodontal therapy is part of ongoing care—maintenance is important for long-term stability
  • Healing and response to treatment can vary
