Crowns

A dental crown, “cap”, is placed over a tooth to cover the tooth and restore its shape and size, as well as  function and appearance. Crowns can cover an entire tooth or part of a tooth (onlay).

There are many instances where a crown can be recommended:

  • A fractured or broken tooth
  • A weak tooth from a large cavity
  • A severely worn down tooth
  • An endodontically (root-canal) treated tooth
  • Cosmetics
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To cover teeth on either side of a missing space to create a dental bridge

There are many materials that can be used for dental crowns: porcelain, gold and resins or a hybrid of the materials

With the use of CAD/CAM technology, there is the added benefit of a digital impressions, fewer appointments and same-day services. Please discuss with your dentist if you are an ideal candidate.
